MONDAY

First day of School

Normal High Monday Archive

The bell rang marking the end of third period history class!

Damion sighed with relief and rose out of his seat.

Amiki, Selie and Hisoka stood up quickly, "What a bust! I could've been anywhere else!", Amiki yells.

"You promised Amiki.", Hisoka reminds her.

Selie smiles, "Yeah! You promised, idiot!", the two girls glare at one another.

"Huh?" Kathy looked around and realized the period was over, sighing softly she got up from her seat and gathered her books, "What's next?" she said looking to her schedual, "Hmm.. Literature, cool" she smiled.

Trinity and Tristan both stood and headed out to the hall. Trinity didn't let go of Tristan's arm until they were out of class. "Well, now to Literature?" Tristan looked at their schedules and nodded.

Christina gathered her books and arose from her seat and headed for her next class, Adv Lit.

Edward picked up his messenger bag and headed for his next class of the day, If I'm lucky I won't run into Sander for the rest of the day, and he won't follow me home again. he thought as he walked out of the class.

Toru made it to his class, coffee in one hand, newspaper in the other. He tossed the paper aside, putting the coffee carefully on his desk, and picked up a stack of cards he had sitting out. He put one on each desk. It was an information card asking for the student's name, age, grade, and reading level. On the back it had a way to scale reading levels. He went up to the board and wrote Mr. Toru Nikki - Advanced Literature. Toru took out the reading lists for the class and put one on each desk as well. He put a copy of Brom Stoker's Dracula on each desk, then leaned on the front of his own desk, his ragged copy of Dracula opened in his hand which rested on his leg as he watched for students.

Christina walked into her Advanced Literature class and looked at the teacher, Dracula, I love that book." she thought to herself as she saw the book in his hand.

Kathy entered the classroom and quickly took her seat. She saw the book and card on the desk, her face lit up as she saw the book.Dracula, Yes that makes my day she giggled. She picked the book up gently and opened it up. and began to re-read it.

Christina went to her seat and picked up the information card, and wrote down her info in the correct spot.

Edward entered the classroom and sat down in the back corner and picked up the information card and wrote down his info, after he was done he looked at the book Dracula, that's a good book.

Damion walked into the class and looked around for his brother. He sighed when he hadn't showed up yet. He took a seat in the back of the room. He sat beside the windows and blindly looked out.

Tonani had at some point disbanded from Takato and was walking to his next class. He walked into the room and saw his twin fascinated once again by the bright light in the outdoors. He sat in a desk beside Damion and smiled. "Hello brother mine."

Damion was not phased by his brother now.

Hisoka enters the room, taking three index cards as walks to a desk near the middle of the room. He sits down quietly placing a card on the desk to his left then one to his right. Selie sits on his left, Amiki stumbles into the chair onhis right, "Are you alright Amiki?",

"Yeah...I'm just alittle shakey...I'm too hungry to focus...", Amiki says holding her stomach.

Selie giggles, "Don't make excuses, you just can't walk!"

Tristan and Trinity entered, sitting near Damion and Tonani. Trinity looked at the book and grinned while Tristan groaned. She turned to look at Damion. He looked a bit distracted. "You okay, mate?" she asked.

Seeing the students entering, Toru started reading slowly. "We were both silent for a while, and as I looked towards the window I saw the first dim streak of the coming dawn. There seemed a strange stillness over everything. But as I listened, I heard as if from down below in the valley the howling of many wolves. The Count's eyes gleamed, and he said. 'Listen to them, the children of the night. What music they make!' Seeing, I suppose, some expression in my face strange to him, he added, 'Ah, sir, you dwellers in the city cannot enter into the feelings of the hunter.'" The drama and lit teacher had a deep enough voice that his reading sounded much like a story teller's.

Damion looked over at Trinity and nodded than looked up to the teacher. He sighed and picked up his book and opened it. Tonani on the other hand could care less for such a story and reclined back in his seat and threw his feet onto the bars at the bottom of the desk in front of him. "Nap time." Tonani said quietly.

Toru kept reading and immediately, without changing tone, said: "Mr. Glory, if you are so tired as to not pay attention, I will have to send you to the nurse." He looked directly at Tonani and smiled. "Hello, class. For those of you who don't know me," he pointed to the board, "I am Mr. Toru Nikki. You may call me Mr. Nikki or Toru, I'm not picky." He paused to look at the students already present.

Tonani grumbled and sat up but rested his cheek into his palm with his elbow planted on the desk.

Kathy looked up as Toru read. She then noticed the information card, sighing she filled the card out. She smiled as she drew a wolf in the margin of the card.

Hisoka begins reading silently. He ignores the room, even his girlfriend, lost in his reading. Amiki picks up her book as well and opens it. She begins listening to Mr. Nikki and filling out her information card at the same time. Once she is done filling out her's she begins filling out Hisoka's.

"Amiki...I don't think I'm going to like this book...", Selie frowns as she flips through the book quickly.

Kanon and Ophelia had made it, finally. Being late due to the fact Ophelia's mother had come up to the school to make sure that her daughter's health and well-being were stable enough. And then to top it off, she'd seen Kanon and ripped him apart for being near and trying to 'impregnate' her little girl. Oh, that had been fun to watch for all of the teachers, but eventually, it got out of control and the high schoolers were sent to class whilst the principal had a talk with Ophelia's mother about her manners and behavior when at the school office.

Sneaking in, the two took seats where they could - Kanon in the back in the corner, and Ophelia took a seat near Tonani. The twin had intrigued her and she simply wanted to get to know him better, so she decided sitting near him would be the best idea.

Kanon wasn't too happy about this, but it didn't matter. They were starting a book that was right up his alley and so he eagerly began to listen, although the expression on his face was that of utter annoyance.

Damion saw the information cards and sighed filling out both his own and his brothers.

Toru looked over at Kanon and Ophelia as they tried to 'sneak' in. He smiled at the students. "And for anyone who doesn't know already, I don't mind if you are late, but from now on if you are, your punishment, instead of lines or getting written up, will be to read your favorite passage to the class or to write me a one paragraph, that is five sentences, paper on your favorite fictional character." He smiled at Ophelia and Kanon. Toru was known in the school for being one of the nicest teachers around. And one of the oldest. He looked at the class. "As you can probably tell, we are starting this year off with a classic. Bram Stoker's Dracula. And don't worry, you won't have to read the entire book if you don't want to. For this particular book, I want you to instead read chapters one and two, analyze the writing style, and the characters."

Tonani sighed raising his hand for Toru to notice.

"Yes, Mr. Glory, you have a question," Toru said, looking over at Tonani. He may be one of the few teachers in the school who could tell the twins apart, but that was because they acted so differently.

"What if we don't do any of your work?" Tonani asked him.

"Then you will fail, Tonani. Simple as that." Toru looked at the entire class. "This class will not be judged on the amount of homework, your tests, quizzes, or exams. It will be based on your participation."

"Paticipation?!", Selie yells leaping up from her seat, "Uh...sorry...", she sits back down hiding her face. Selie's stage fright setting in as she turns beat red.

Christina looked at the teacher then back at the book, "Do we have to read it if we've read the entire book before now?" she asked the teacher curiously.

"Yes, participation," Toru said with a smile. "I will judge each students level of participation separately. And no, you do not need to read the book if you have read it before, however, as I have stated, you will need to analyze it, so if you are unsure of anything, re-reading it might be a good idea, if only the first two chapters."

Amiki glances at Selie, who has resorted to melting in her seat, "Poor you...stage fright must relaly suck!", she giggles.

The twins sighed identically. "This sucks." Tonani whispered. He raised his hand again waiting for the teacher but suddenly grew impatient. "Can I leave? This is way too boring."

Kathy rolled her eyes at the pandemonium of the class and stretched out in her seat as she watched with boredom, how immature, she thought to herself, as Tonani complained.

Toru actually chuckled at the random comments. "As I said before, Mr. Glory, if you must leave, I will have to send you to the nurse. Everyone else, if you could please settle down. As this is only the first day, I will not expect you to know that excitement is allowed, however I do frown on rudeness. And I am known to give detention when it is needed. Not that I believe any of you will need it." He smiled at the class again, scooting up so he was fully sitting on the front of his desk.

Tonani grumbled and reclined himself in his seat so his feet were on the chair infront of him and his head was resting on the backrest of the chair.

Damion threw a crumpled up piece of paper at Tonani making him turn his head. Tonani raised his hand slightly towards his brother and gave him the middle finger. "Fuck you." He mouthed towards his brother and then rested back in his chair and closed his eyes.

Twilight sighed as she slipped into class and sat down. 'Why did I bother even coming to school? I could be at home with my daughter instead of here.' She thought irrately.
